THRIFTY NURSERY

Putting our stamp in our centennial home, room by room. Here's Nori's space and tips on how to repurpose & recycle furniture.

The thrill of the hunt, that's how I'd describe thrift shopping. Have I been quarantined too long? In my humble opinion, I think finding a balance between old and new is a great way to decorate with purpose.

1. Happy tone, happy home

The way I like to decorate a room is to surround myself with pieces that bring meaning and purpose. Like that time you bought that unique print from a small shop, or you snagged those one-of-a-kind chairs from your neighbours garbage! Choosing (or garbage digging) selective pieces with meaning will create a happy space. Happy tone, happy home.

2. Don't go overboard, it's not all you can eat sushi

No, I don't consider myself to be a minimalist. But because we have moved around so many times in the last 4 years we have had to buy new and pre-loved furniture that have multiple purposes. A simple face lift on a dresser, like adding leather straps, can give old furniture new life! Check your inventory before you check your cart!

3. Flex those creative muscles

This was the nursery before! Updates were necessary. It is really easy to get carried away with designing a space when Pinterest and Instagram are a click away. When designing your own space, remember to take a moment to be selective and reflect on the pieces you are choosing, checking your inventory and flex that creative muscle! Or, just contact me!

How will you challenge your creative mind?
