My name is Janique Rodrigue but my favourite people call me mama. Welcome to my online journal! This blog is just a humble brag about my passion for interior decor and my kids. There are less than a handful of times in my life where I sensed something change in me and I am feeling that change once again. I am so thrilled to take you along this journey as I gather the courage to step into a new career and make myself vulnerable to learning in depth about my deep-rooted love for interior decor.
ABOUT ME
I like to think that I was planted as a seed in Sudbury, Ontario but I bloomed when I ventured out on my own and threw myself into my career as a Dental Hygienist. At the ripe age of 24, there was no stopping me. Lived to work and loved every minute of it. I mean c'mon, I was making people smile all day, that before and after feeling, client after client. I. was. hooked.
The odd date I had over the years never satisfied my new-found-love for myself. Then along came The Man. To whom I assure on our first date, I don't need a man. And that was the last first date I would ever have. It couldn't be more clear that I had found my twin flame and that flame spread like fire. Two little fires to be exact. First came Donelle, and then came Norris. The funny thing about kids is you think you're teaching them, but really they're teaching you. What's important in my life? What makes you happy to your core? How much water can fifty-five elephants drink?
If I go back to my own childhood, arranging furniture was my favourite hobby. Thinking about the evolution of my bedroom makes my heart swell. The purple, fuchsia and yellow room was my safe space. As I got older, that love for decor never went away, my family members would ask me for advice during renovations, but never in my wildest dreams would I imagine a career from a hobby. But doesn't that old saying go: do something you love and never work a day in your life.
